Edit: just read it. Valid concerns my hole. People can’t get a bus? They want more roads. Because that’s always the solution to traffic problems, build more roads. And when those are congested, you build more again.

If our public transport wasnt completely shit after 80 odd years of pushing car travel as the main means of transport you might have a point.

I'll tell you what wont get people out of cars. More millions spent on cycle lanes no one uses. (360 million in 2025 alone).

The problem is also our shite public transport system and the green party thinking cycle lanes will solve it.

They won't. Make public transport cheap and reliable and you'll get people to use it. I've been waiting for a 203 in Patrick Street and seen 7 207s pass by me in the space of an hour. The last 3 pulled away within 3 minutes of each other and left with not a single passenger on them because the 4th bus had left a couple of minutes before.

Same thing happens with the 208. You can have 4 go through Patrick street in a half hour, a few with virtually no one on them. Meanwhile pensioners are left freezing in the cold and rain waiting for a 203 or 214. Something that could be easily fixed.

Try ringing up and complaining though. Go on, try it.

It’s completely shit in part because of all the once off housing. We live too far apart from each other and therefore we are far too dependent on the car. Our population density outside of Dublin is pathetic.

No , instead of heavily investing in rail, light rail and tram networks we have for some bizarre reason decided to splurge 20% of our transport budget on 'active travel', which is a nice idea nationally but completely idiotic without the requisite accompanying spend on public transport.

Yeah, get the bus and be late so often you're sacked for tardiness. This proposed LUAS is mental too imo. Far better off with more buses.

A friend of mine is a bus driver. He's expected to get from Farannree to Patrick Street in 20 minutes. Yeah right, through that bottleneck of traffic in 20 minutes. Cloud cuckoo land who ever thinks that's doable.

The 203 was always terrible. So what did they do? They made Lenaghmore part of the route too. Another bottleneck at the bottom of Forge hill..

At peak times areas like Ballyphehane and Farranree/Blackpool need their own service.

Btw, what a lovely cycle lane they made at the bottom of Tory Top Road. I'd imagine there was 7 figures spent doing that when there was already a perfectly good lane for the bus to stop at letting traffic flow reasonably well while doing so. No we'll destroy that, reduce traffic to one lane instead. Now we have another semi bottleneck.

I overheard one woman talking about how they want to down all the trees on Tory Top Road too to make more cycle lanes.

Environmentalists cutting down trees, to make more traffic jams. Ycnmiu. It's beyond moronic what they've done and continue to do to this city.
