The Action Plan for Housing.

No problem with controls such as
If you’re not in this country legally you are not getting social housing.
In fact I’d make everyone applying for Social Housing have to turn up in person with photo ID and illegals would be instantly detained.
So you want people to queue up at the local authority offices? For the whole world to see and know their business.

Have a day off.

Queue up? Just how many social houses do you think are available under your FFG heroes you complete and utter galoot? People queueing for and getting Social Housing, financed by the tax payer shouldn't have a problem if weirdos like you want to go down and watch them having to go into a room with photo ID if and when they're applying for a Social House.

The lengthy outdoor and many multiples over-subscribed queues for housing are for private builds in the forlorn hope that people might be lucky and not priced out of the FFG heated market by some investment fund or other coming in and buying large groups of houses, or indeed the whole estate, before they get to the top of the queue.

Wise up FFS

You’re away with the fairies pal.

Few problems here.

1. Why create extra bureaucracy and effort for people to apply for something that can easily be done online?
2. The only people who will be sussing out the queue are the racists and far right agitators looking to see how many dark skinned people are there. Behaviour you are now suggesting we tolerate and enable.
3. People who need social housing don’t need the stigma of being made to queue like cattle.
4. Your own party wouldn’t be very happy with your attitude. Housing is a right and now you’re suggesting that those entitled to state housing should have to go through some sort of interview system.

You amaze me. Truly.

1 Given the shortage of housing (I know you probably think FFG are doing a bang up job on that ) we can ill afford to allocate housing to people who shouldn't even be in the state. Getting them to come in with photo ID as just one part of a very lengthy process is twofold. One it ensures that no illegal immigrants would get a much needed house, and Two it would ensure that an illegal immigrant would be able to be tracked down and arrestable for deportation.

2 Do you seriously think even racists are going to be hanging around inside City Hall waiting to count how many people enter some room for lord knows what purpose? Seriously boppy, you're completely concocting stuff now just for an argument.

3 I'm not suggesting they queue like cattle - you're the only one suggesting that. I suggested that as part of the application process they'd present themselves with photo ID, not have to queue up on the streets

4 What attitude is it you think that I have? Those entitled to state housing already have to go through an application system and have nothing at all to fear - certainly not racists lying in wait in City Hall or wherever. Just having to turn up in person at some stage and present a photo ID to an official is hardly an onerous task, and it can help sift out those who shouldn't be getting such aid, and would also help remove the scourge of illegal immigrants. And for the elimination of any doubt because you'll probably try concoct some other bizarre notion, I'm all in favour of LEGAL immigrants, it's the illegal immigrants, those who've had their cases heard and rejected, that we need to ship out asap.

Perhaps you'd be less amazed if you didn't try to completely distort what I have actually written, concoct your worst case scenario, and then argue against that bizarre scenario

Isn't it the same as social welfare. When someone claims , they have to go in person to make the claim at the start? Don't think that there are loads of racists watching that.

It's great in a digital age getting things done remotely but for state money there has to be physical security checks, there's been way too much fraud, both Irish and non Irish.

There’s nothing at all wrong with the online system. It’s rules based and there is clear criteria for everyone. Making people do it in person is just unnecessary red tape.

It's easier to help catch potential scammers in person - especially the ones that are supposed to be deported but can't otherwise be found.

Should all government services be done in person? Driving licence, passport etc etc

Also, illegal immigrants are not entitled to social housing.

Those who are availing of substantial financial assistance from the State should, imho, have little objection to producing photographic evidence of who they are and where they reside when making applications for such aid. This isn't something they'll have to keep doing once a month or even once a year you know. These are large and infrequent applications.

And it's helping to track down illegal immigrants and deporting them that helps this country better help those who are entitled to state aid that we should be endeavouring to do boppy

As I said. Illegal immigrants are not entitled to social housing. Those seeking asylum here aren’t either unless their application for asylum is approved, they already go through a significant vetting process as part of this. Absolutely no need to duplicate the work.
