I read that in the IT a few days ago, it is a shocking indictment of where we are.. having said that she is a bit doe eyed at Copenhagen and has omitted how the cost of living there is absolutely astronomical, and rental/purchase prices of property are also as bad as here if not worse!

Same situation here.

Four adult offspring, aged from mid 20's to mid 30's, and all living at home with us.
They have no choice.

Can't find anywhere to move to, and even if they could, they can't afford it.

Bloody ridiculous situation.

The birth rates per 1000 are also very similar but it's the hopelessness of how she is feeling that is striking.

We fucked up with abolition of residential rates in 1977 and then the fuck up with the water charges.

We householders wanted it all, for free, water and all.

I don't think housing will ever be sorted.

People would accept a reasonable fixed rate domestic charge IF they were guaranteed a certain quality of service and quality of drinking water imo and don't mind this charge per litre bollocks.

The messaging was brutal the last time around and scared people off.

From a government pov, they had obviously figure in mind to raise via water rates at the last attempted introduction , well 30%-40% of x amount is still far higher than zero.

The infrastructure is a disgrace and will only get worse. It needs to be sorted.
