You'd have thought so. He sold 85 million books worldwide. That's Roald Dahl/Tom Clancy territory.

His passing is sad, but he also said he didn't want to live long after his mind was gone, so in a way I'm glad for him as well.

Or you could check out the screen adaptations of The Hogfather , and Lord of Magic.
They're not quite as funny as the books but it'd be a toe in the water without committing to ...you know...reading an entire book you may not enjoy.
