Tablet Talk!

Hi lads,

I'm currently in the market for my first Tablet computer,

and right now It's between the Transformer Prime, iPad 3 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated.

I still have yet to figure out which killer apps to go with, and compare the market to the appstore.

I may look into cheaper tablets like the Playbook also, but I think i would rather full android compatibility and stay away from RIM.

The Prime with its keyboard dock is really standing out to me.

But the display is only just above 720p and the Ipad is far beyond 1080p.

How Bad Boy, is there any chance you can look into your crystal ball for me? ;)

I have used android 3 on a friends Xperia Play, and I liked it.

I've used IOS 4 on iphones and an ipad 2 also.

I can post up a lot more of what I'm looking for soon.

Cheers!

I must point out that I do not own a netbook or a decent laptop,
so the Prime would be more versatile.

Also, I am leaning towards android as I love how its more open.
If i get the iPad, will be putting cydia on it as soon as is possible, (not sure if its out for the ipad 3 yet.)

I'm also liking the idea of USB on the go port and hdmi port, and disliking Apples propietary connector.

Here's some videos anyway:

Asus Transformer Prime VS iPad 3

I recently moved from apple iOS to Android as a mobile platform and from what I have seen so far is that Android is wayyyyyy to glitchy for me! I would shell out the extra few dollars for an ipad. Apple know their shit!

Yeah android can be glitchy alright, but I reckon version 3 is fierce stable by now.

ICS will take a few more months to blossom i reckon.

But on the pro side, it's far more open and I dont have to wait for a hack like cydia to come out.

I don't really mind the fact that theres a few bugs when using android, i love open source software.

I'm not too upto date on which models are the best right now, so if anyone knows of any other models,
don't be afraid to mention them too! ;)

And then a cheap all winner Tablet raises its ugly head on amazon for £99!

I like the idea of using a case to make it a hybrid:

To be fair the average rating is extremely high for something so cheap.

But I'm going to take my time with this, and not get seduced by the price!

if you have the money - it has to be the Ipad.

sorry to all that think otherwise....they are wrong.

you could also wait till the rumored 7 inch ipad mini comes out at the end of the summer.....

Ah lads ffs, unbiased opinions would be nice to be fair! ;)

As great as the IPad is, there's a lot to be said for an android device with a usb host port + a hdmi port, and extra memory in the form of an microSD slot as standard.

Can't stand the sole proprietary connector on the iPad and how apple completely shaft you for extra memory.

Having said that though the ridiculously high res screen with small DPP counts is seductive.

But i think the practicality & flexibility of an android tablet is a bit more seductive for me, having a hard time choosing tbh!

Thanks for the info bout the rumoured ipad, still though I wouldnt mind buying something in the next few weeks.

Tablets are such a great device to chill out to for one reason alone

One app, one screen.

Ever since multitasking came about on Desktops, and the amount simultaneous running applications increased, i think our stress levels increased with it, including my own.

Looking at all the icons and apps open is tiring, especially for technophobes!

This + the simplicity of the interface of Android + iOS is a big reason that's making them do so well imo.

Okay tomorrow I will really try and compare the apps.

For music tutition + production the iPad is really seducing me with Guitar Pro, AniMoog, Garage band etc...

One of these devices would make for a great sound module for a midi keyboard coming to think of it,

with the advantage of showing sheet music too and stuff!

I guess i could run linux on android tablet too, bah, so many variables to consider! :)

as far as music tools go, the lemur touch screen app beats all hands down. i am sure its android as well.

the animoog is also very good indeed.

depends what you really want the tablet for. i use my playbook mainly for checking email, surfing my favourite sites to check news, blah blah blah, and voice chat.

yes, it is lovely being able to get away from the computer every now and again, and for traveling on trains, planes and automobiles its mint, for etc. though looking back on it, if i hadn't had to buy two tablets (one for the missus as well), i would have bought an ipad.
