Support After Crime

I embezzled 10 million quid from a company, but I no longer work for the company, so you can't touch me and I can't possibly comment.
Foolproof.
To be fair, I think all she is saying is that she isn't willing to comment, not that she cant be charged.

Also, the amount of the overpayment seems to be circa €14k, and in the absence of a conviction I would be vary of using the word "embezzled".

It seems it was just very badly run from an organisational pov.

I happen to know the people in Support After Crime and I have to say I will be shocked if there is anything that suggests purposeful wrong practice in relation to funds etc.
Sally used to be a Garda and I think she is absolutely honest.
Maybe they were ill advised or just did not do whatever the correct way.

That would be my thinking on it too

The article states the audit found that the director had too much control. I don’t know if you know this person but this does not look like an honest endeavour and it was wound up for that reason.

The good done doesnt outweigh what could have been done. How could it?

That is just one instance of an unaccounted overnight trip for €2.6k, paid for with public funds? It when it was wound up it was said that it was because the government would not provide more funding for it.

Read the article through, it looks that there was no responsibility or accountability taken throughout.

I don’t know, I just found it sad that this is going on still.

Not for a trip, for a number of them. So it may have been 10 trips to Dublin to attend Court with a client (€260 being a reasonable amount for B&B and subsistence) that they somehow thought they didn't need to vouch for when they clearly did.

I don't think it was one night in Ballyfin like ;-)

2 verified trips to Dublin...an area not under their remit.
€14,325.39 suspected....

Etc.

I think the "an area not under their remit" bit is bullshit tbh.

Many serious criminal cases get heard in the central criminal court, even if the offence took place in Cork. Therefore, they were always going to have to travel to Dublin if they were to support victims during trials.

The 14k figure is the entirely of the alleged overpayment (afaik) not the figure for the overnight stays.
