Stuff that grinds your gears

Got the electricity bill there in my emails. Lovely way to start the weekend, the biggest bill we've ever gotten, by a distance. Twice what I usually pay, and I can't figure out why. We're both in the office a few days a week now and are away most weekends, and we don't leave stuff on at home. I'm going on holidays at the end of the month and that's a few hundred quid gone now that I wasn't expecting to lose
Do you have an eletric heater or a dryer? I know roughly how much I pay day to day because I've got a modern coin meter. My Dads was over 300 from the eletric heater

My best friends mum died around a month ago, leaving him and his brother, who needs full time care.

So since then my friend has been dealing with all the formalities, getting accounts closed, sorting out paperwork etc. He's absolutely exhausted.

Today anyway he had an appointment with the solicitors. They sat him down, and what did they tell him?

He's adopted. His whole life has been something he didn't realise it was. He's in bits. Awful. I don't know, should kids be told if they are adopted? He has so many questions now that will never be answered.

They absolutely should be told, but because the family have a constitutional right to privacy they state can't force the parents to tell.

Why did the Solicitor decide to tell them now? Unless the parents put it in the will that they were to be told after they died, which is really cowardly if they did so!

I have no idea, I don't know what the nature of today's meeting was. I'll probably find out this evening.

If anything I think that being adopted is something to embrace. Someone really wanted you. It's just awful that he can't ask the questions he wants to ask now.

My aunt was adopted, and she managed to track down her birth mother, and she didn't want anything to do with her.

It's funny, she grew up with my dad and their family in Meath, and it was only at our wedding in Waterford last year that she revealed that it was Waferford she was born in before being put up for adoption, and it was her first time back.
