Stuff that grinds your gears

Two ads that are getting on my nerves recently

The first one is the Laya health care ad. Guy in a doctors office just about to get the results of a scan, starts remembering important life events, which makes you think this is a cancer diagnosis about to drop or not.

Then it cuts back to the diagnosis and it's for a sprained ankle or something else completely minor

Now, that fucking Aldi ad. Stuck at the side of the road, broken down laughing about it, because they have some fucking chicken rolls from Aldi.

Yeah sound.

But then it gets to the dad, who is presented as a complete moron and one who is happy to be so. Has anyone else noticed it's always the man who is the clown in these ads. Dad forgot to put petrol in the car because he's dumb.

Dad regularly forgets to put petrol in the car because he's dumb.

Imagine if an ad came out about Mam being a clueless idiot who regularly forgets to put petrol in the car.....

Rant over
Aldi could do an ad where they show the asshole who regularly parks in the parent and child spaces with the message ‘don’t be like Derek/Deirdre’.

Laya’s ads are moronic. They had one up to recently with a message from some influencer ‘making you better before you’re even ill’.

Really, how the fuck are you doing that then?

Arseholes.

Without opening a can of worms, you are broadly correct in your last line.

Society norms and thinking shape a huge amount of how we view right and wrong.

I encounter it a lot when dealing with couples, one thinking they are in a stronger position because they are aligned more with society views, particularly around parenting and decision making.

Look also at TV, sitcoms etc. I always think the show Everybody Loves Raymond is a prime example of how if the roles were reversed there would be a far different view.

Im right with you on the Aldi ad and how men in these ads are portrayed as Homer Simpson types, She was driving, up to her to ensure the
car had petrol,

There was a bus load from Noels at the match yesterday, Not sure how many made it home yet,
I'm in some posh bar in Blackrock. Some gowl in the corner is constantly on his tablet watching his "Crytpo thingy" bouncing up and down while intermittently laughing when it goes up and crying when it goes down.

I've ordered a taxi.

Same thing in the energia ad. Future yer one has "traded in" her idiot husband for a model with a six pack (not my kind of six pack)

Switch that around and see what happens. Or the two men who lose their babies on the carousel in the philidelphia ad because the margerine was so orgasmically delicious

But it's okay for men to be the butt of the jokes because men are idiots and won't even get the joke.....
