Sprint Finishes.

Gotta be Tergat Vs Gebrsellaisse in the 10k in Sydney. I still don’t know who is going to win it even when I watch it now. Loads of videos of it but I love this one, shaky handheld camera but the music and the slow-mo pull you in to an almost balletic experience. The absolute bravery of Tergat and sheer class of Geb at his peak, their faces as they cross the line tell it all - the glory of victory alongside the despair of defeat. Sport at its absolute finest.

This one is pretty onreal too -

I saw that - what a stupid, stupid woman. LOL, gives me a shiver as it reminded me of yer wan who ran onto the course and decked me at mile 23 in Boston last year.

Stewarding was really poor as you say Guapo, and the barriers weren't great either. LA has a reputation for being all over the shop - more of a fun run than a real race- and they showed it again.

Then there's this

The other thing is that the "proper" big road races have bicycles accompanying the lead runners, male and female, and usually the runners in the top 5 in general. I've done bicycle accompaniement myself for a good few local races. Your role is to shepherd the runner around the course. Because you're a bicycle you can easily swoop in and out to move people out of the way or clear a path for the leader through a field of slower runners in a multi-race event - motor bikes or standing stewards can't do this. In the LA case, you'd move in on her left, slightly in front of her, and and gently guide her off to the side while waving your boy through on your own left. Then you catch up to him and guard him again - it's a busy job and you're fairly moving along at all times. I used to wonder why they had the bicycles when there's a jeep and a motorbike already, but they are needed alright.
