Sinn Fein are not a Normal Political Party

Mountbatten was such a nasty piece of work that a lot of people didn't have their @rse comfortable, safe, or sound anywhere!

Interesting article by Conlon, about a sad time in Ireland's history, and the spin imparted by what he included and didn't include in it.
🤔
I agree that Mountbatten deserved his fate as he was evil but the other innocents on the boat did not.
JJMcG was a cunt, simple as!

Agreed on the others on the boat not deserving that fate.

Wouldn't know enough about JJMcG to say tbh but the fact that he was elected to Leitrim County Council (he was also a former Chairman of the Council) for nearly 30 years would tend to suggest he was held in regard by many.

Regard or fear?
He was a nasty cunt. I had the displeasure of meeting him in the 1980s. Let's just say that we didn't get on!

Fear? 😲

Not sure how things work in post-Franco Spain Lee, but here in Ireland we have a secret ballot. You get to vote without anyone knowing who you voted for. So the notion that people in Ireland would vote for someone out of fear is ludicrous.

I think many of us have encountered politicians over the years with whom we didn't exactly gel (I'm understating it)

The vice-like grip is what Sinn Fein have on you Otto. You seem to see their influence everywhere - from corporation housing estates, to anyone from the north, and from anyone giving them even a very low preference vote to those that watch boxing. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Amazing how you have absolutely nothing to say about how the cowardly bastards that you love and adore murdered those Gardai and Army victims.

Fear of speaking out against him or the IRA activists in the area, that's what he meant obviously.

One man's fearless fenian is another’s cowardly terrorist.

Democracy in Spain post-Franco Yer.

If SF didn't do well, their "military" section could cause reprisals in any electoral area like Leitrim which was supposed to be a Republican movement "hotbed" back then. Easy to understand.

So can you explain, given the secrecy of the ballot box, and the far greater knowledge of the people of Leitrim of what was happening on the ground in and around Leitrim than is the case on PROC, why JJMcG kept getting re-elected to the Leitrim County Council for 28 years right up to his death?

Whether people spoke out in public against him or not, he kept getting re-elected. Indeed he was elected by his fellow County Councillors to be the Chairman of Leitrim County Council.

I don't know anything about him on a personal level but the fact that he continued to be electorally popular at a council level are indisputable.

As for the killing of that young garda and soldier in Ballinamore that was utterly wrong imho. And pretty sure it contravened the green book orders.

I was talking to a hair dresser and the said that MLMD hair syle is likely to cost 150€ .
I noticed that she has a lot of crows feet.
I see Owen o Broin and Lynn Boylan at the conference.
