He indeed might be interested in the Presidency. If Jane is connected to Rose David could pick a vote there . Also he can vote for himself ( assuming the party has the same rules as FF) and also will pick a vote from Cat Function. He is up to a small but not an insignificant start.
Then the Army Council with their 50 votes will be the kingmaker.

SF problem is if they run a candidate they will put BP front and centre of the campaign, If they poll very well they will see it as
a vindication of their claim there is huge desire for a UI, But if they have a bad day out it will be thrown at them that there is no desire among people
for a BP

Tbh, their problem is now that they don't have a candidate and MLMD's ratings are fairly poor at the moment! Their best chance is to run candidate with no significant political history like FF doing with Gavin.
Office of the President is intended to be above politics so likely any candidate won't go too big on BP issue outside the usual remarks about hoping to see a United Ireland in their lifetime, etc.
