Should the RE-Turn scheme be scrapped?

I am sick of this crap, we usually let them build up at home. So 4 bags and then its off to a machine.
Went to a local Centra, the machine took about 6 of them and stopped working, the machines are shit by the way.
So I said fuck this, off I went down to Rafeen dump and I fucked the reminder into a skip down there.
Yes I paid to dump them when I should have been getting refunds but fuck it, i actually enjoyed how quickly they were disposed of.

What did the other 19 do to sort this issue ?

Why are they only looking into it now ?

What a shit show. And how about paying your way instead of waiting for the obvious. Research, lol. How is this fella keeping a straight face.


CEO of Re-turn Ciaran Foley said they are trying to better understand the issue by carrying out research into the practise and that Dublin City Council has not asked them to contribute to the clean-up costs.

What did the other 19 do to sort this issue ?

Why are they only looking into it now ?

There's a few more questions need answered too.

Questions like

Where is the huge amount of money being generated by this scheme actually going? In over two years there's more than €100M generated in this "not for profit" organisation yet the money seems to just be "resting in an account somewhere"

Will the various executives of ReTurn be in line for huge salaries the way even executives in disfunctional Quangos like transport are?

Why must cans be in pristine condition to retrieve the deposit when they are then instantly crushed (or is that just a clever way to make even more money in non returns)?

If we are the 20th country in Europe to run such a scheme, how come we've not learnt the lessons of others with regard to what we are now assured are just "teething problems"?

Great post. There’s plenty of international examples of a scheme working well. As usual we have a half arsed approach with two state agencies lining up to blame each other.
