Yeah, I think a lot of parents (at least the pinko liberal guardianista types I relate to) do the same thing.

Every little helps. Ban them in schools, ban them from social media, hold the line for as long as possible

I think in the future people will look back on kids on social media with the same horror as women smoking while pregnant.

Yeah, we did the same, and neither of them have Tik Tok or Insta on their phones, it's not happening. However both phones have internet access so they are 1 click away from seing anything they like. At least with that I have told them that I have sight of their search history so if their phone is used for anything dodgy i will know and thats the end of it. It doesn't stop some other youngfella showing my lad porn or whatever but at least it puts it all 1 step further away and stops him being the guy that shared it when it all goes wrong.

I reluctantly relented on Snapchat because that is genuinely how kids their age communicate.. but if Sanpchat wasn't available to them they would use WhatsApp or some other form of communication. The idea of groups chats in that 12-14/15 age is utter nonsense.. they just continually ping emojis and silly shit into the group which bings every few seconds but there is nothing to see. I have notifications on both of their phones off for this reason!

I would love it banned because the futility of it all is blatantly obvious. Kids are sucked in and confronted with this SM stuff without having any of the tools to understand what is happening, or how to deal with it.. just get rid of it. Has anyone anything positive to say in favour of not banning it bar tech guys and kids?

My fella is 19 now so he is free to do what he wants, however I remember there were a lot of problems with kids who had phones in his primary class, with snapchat esp from 4th to 6th class. I think he got Instagram at about 16/17 and may have snapchat now.
