Should Ireland fuck away our neutrality and join NATO?

Should we turf away our neutrality?

What’s more surprising is that Sinn Féin’s current approach would maintain the U.K. veto on Irish foreign policy decisions.

Not to mention Russia and China.

Ireland is a neutral State as per its Constitution and the E.U. does not have an army and matters of defence are solely reserved for member States.

When we signed up (eventually) for Nice and Lisbon Treaties we were assured that we wouldn't be drawn into anything like an EU army. Now the shills are trying to say our inability to join an EU army is a drawback

The US seem very insistent that the UN have no place in Palestine to stop the absolute carnage there but, but, those bluddy furriners in Russia and China, and UK eh.

True neutrals are the likes of South Africa, Brazil and India they are big and strong whereas with countries like ourselves, Serbia, Belarus and South Korea we inevitable become part of one alliance or the other.

Ireland is mentioned in the pantheon of great counties with such illustrious history as Serbia and Belarus ?

India and Brazil neutral? Interesting, indeed. Where did you get that from? Does Pakistan and China know? Are Bolivia and Paraguay aware?

Are you suggesting to join up with Serbia and Belarus?

Mate, its not even a weekend yet...

Ireland is in the EU yet still neutral country, BRICS+ is the modern non aligned movement as for Belarus and Serbia both pretty much in the Russia camp while Ireland and South Korea are in the US camp.

After a SF motion was defeated last night in the Dail, a counter-motion was tabled by the government stating that holding a referendum to enshrine neutrality in the Constitution is "not appropriate".

How very dare the people of Ireland think their opinions actually matter regarding neutrality. So that's another fundamental issue that must never be put to a vote according to GFFG ?s

The Government are only there via the consent of the people to represent the citizens of the State.

Eventually you will get used to that concept.
