Should Ireland fuck away our neutrality and join NATO?

Should we turf away our neutrality?

On what fucking planet would it be a good idea for a tiny county isolated on the edge of the Atlantic to give up our neutrality?

What good could possibly come of that like?

If Russia for example decided they wanted to attack Ireland, what resistance would our defence forces manage to put up? We'd be overrun in a few minutes.

And it's hard enough to get lads to join the army as it is. What eejit would join the defence forces if he thought he might get shipped off to die in some NATO war.

I'm no activist but we are a neutral country and that should remain so.

That's a long way to say you have no clue as to how NATO works

All members agree to mutual defence in response to an enemy attack, under Article 5 of the Washington Treaty.

"An attack against one ally is considered as an attack against all allies," as the principle goes.

So if Ireland became a NATO member and one of our NATO pals gets attacked, Irish lads should be involved in the retaliation?
To your original post, if the orcs invaded us, NATO would have our backs.

And who the fuck is going to attack a NATO member??? Terrorism doesn't count as you could see France not going to Iraq.

And we're already in an EU mutual defence pact anyway.

Just carry on as normal.

Twill be grand, sur we are nice guys to the world, no one will harm us and if they do, then the US, UK and EU would hop on for us.

Why would anyone invade us in the first place ? Ireland is a neutral country and no matter what your overlords in ffg want the country would never agree to us joining a US puppet army.

We rely on the tans own strategic self interest to protect us. That's worked swimmingly until Londongrad became a thing.
