Shein and Temu - yes - these fuckers (and Ali Express etc.) are dumping single use, plastic crap onto the market. Crap that is bought mindlessy by vacant, vapid, vaping droogs who have access to a phone and a tenner on their Revolut.
Amazon UK, World Of Books, Discogs, Bandcamp etc. - I have an issue with. Like it or not - this is how most of us buy books and records nowadays - especially titles by authors/bands that are not ever going to dent the top 40. Tangible items that have an inherent value - sometimes an appreciating value.
A lot of Irish indie/metal/alt groups sell their physical media and merch on Bandcamp - a high percentage of these are shipped from a label/warehouse in the UK due to the nature of vinyl pressing/storage etc. The Murder Capital/Gurriers/Fontaines for example - all my orders from these bands have come through the UK. Adding €3 to a record/t-shirt that is already costing €40 by the time you factor in customs, shipping etc. is going to give people pause.
(I am aware that Amazon sells rubbish from China too. Fair game)
[I am also aware that there's an Amazon.ie which won't be affected but their prices (for books anyway) are set so much higher than the UK counterpart that you'd be better off paying the €3]
