Shefield United ?

And on the other hand why are they doing so poorly this season after doing so well last season going in to the last quarter last season they were in contention for a champions league place . this season they have only one point from something like ten games

Anybody know anymore on the subject ?

regression to the mean

its explains everything that isn't normally explainable, kinda like 'god made it' in religious terms

You wanted more?

more what? olivers? there's oliver norwood.

i think i may have misinterpreted the question. more from brewster? i didn't personally, but i'm sure blades fans did.

is that the same as what afd calls variance? or is variance over a shorter period of time. is it 'explicable' or 'explainable'? i'd use the former but maybe both are correct.

I dont know Steve, I'm not a believer.. but I would imagine that variance applies to statistics you can determine with certainty rather than teams exceeding or falling short of expectation. If SU were flipping coins he'd be lighting his PP account up like a motherfucker against them

Just Oliver-themed bants buddy.

Aban(Dan)man will love this. The king of bants.

They miss too many chances. They have a higher xG than Arsenal, Southampton and Wolves. Think the lack of fans and home advantage has affected them more than most teams in the division.

Unless they start winning real soon, the gap at the bottom will become insurmountable.

If they don't turn things around by the New Year, they will have a difficult decision to make. Replace Wilder and hope for a new managerial bounce. Or stick with him, accept relegation as a probability but have confidence that Wilder is the best man to take you back up.

Keane said in his book the first season is all about survival. You have to bring in the right personnel if you want to push on.

They need a centreback. Being linked with a loan move for Rojo. Also Henderson was worth ten points to them last year.

They've regressed way beyond the mean, to the point where they should return back towards it again (close to the relegation line rather than six or seven points off it), but who knows? Teams can go whole seasons hugely underachieving which is often a feature of relegated sides.

Slavisa Jokanovic is the new gaffer. He has had previous promotion winning seasons with Watford and Fulham, so knows his way around the Championship.

Would you recommend a flutter for next season? Id imagine jack o connell
will be back?

I wouldn't put anybody off. They will have the financial advantage from the parachute payments, which is huge and will allow them to retain most of the current squad. And most of this squad finished ahead of Biesla's Leeds two years ago, so they know what it takes to emerge after a grulling 46-game campaign.

They are probably still missing a key creative player, like a Buendia, Pereira or Brooks, so scoring goals may remain an issue for them. If they sell Berge and buy a player with that match-winning guile, I could see top two.

I'd probably fancy West Brom to win it, if they land Wilder.
