Shefield United ?

Why are they doing so well in the Premiership this season after coming up from the championship last season and are in contention for a place in Europe next season

I know one of the reasons is they have got an excellent goalkeeper but there must be more reasons why they are doing so well

Anybody know anymore on the subject

It’s not that unusual for a promoted team to have a decent season when they come up. It’s very unusual for them to do it again the next year though.

Wolves are doing it this year, which suggests they have a very decent squad.

It’ll be interesting to see how SU do next season,

Very settled side (~8-9 are ever-present and the remaining 2-3 aren't far off)
Great team spirit
Big focus on fitness
Smart manager
The surprise factor (PL teams weren't sure what to expect of them)
Some players over-performing as they are playing at a level they never thought they'd get to

take your pick

All of the above. No european football and no deep league cup run either. But of tactical innovation with the overlapping centre halves in a back 3 and probably being underestimated early on in the season. Have a very good support as well.

almost every season at least one of the promoted teams does better than expected-sometimes but not always as a precursor to an extended stay in the top division. I think the enthusiasm and novelty factor is very big for players and supporters and it helps to an extent. You can see in SU´s case that a lot of the fundamentals as listed above are in place.
Another factor is momentum in that in many situations in life, not just football, things are either improving or disimproving. In SU´s case things are on the up, whereas say in Bournemouth´s case, after several years of progress, now the opposite is the case and they are likely to be relegated soon if they cannot halt the slide
