SF The workers party

Found a book during the week The lost revolution .. The history of SFWP They were involved in a lot of shady carry on, Protection rackets,
bank robberies, extortion, Some of the main characters in the book were household names, De Rossa, McGiolla, Des Geraghty who i think went onto be a leading
ITGWU man, Eoghan Harris , Joe Sherlock, Kathleen Lynch, Liz Mcmanus, It mentioned a big row in cork between Ted Tynan on one side and Doc Doherty on the other side,
The book traced their support for the soviet union and North Korea, It mentioned the bitterness between them and the provos,
The decision to drop SF from their name to become WP and then Democratic left,
When Sean Souths body was brought back to Limerick Fianna Eireann had a guard of honour , A young De Rossa was part of the guard of honour,
Not sure if the official IRA actually disbanded or did they all just grow old,

There was a brilliant documentary about Sean South on TG4.

What a fuckin nutter. He used to wear an Irish woolen Kilt job, like a scottish one with ni Tartin, even though there was basically no historical record of them being worn in Ireland because he thought it was more "pure"

He'd spend his weekend going into Cinemas around Limerick with a torch on his own authority to pull couples apart if they were kissing

And would regularly enough go off into the hills in rural Limerick and live off the land for a week or so becuase our lord suffered similarly. A religious fanatic.

Sean Garland was his commanding officer when they were on theor border raids and was basically a hard core communist carried Sean South out of the fighting when he was shot.

Imagine the team meetings beforehand like

Who had more blood thirsty nutters amongst the ranks, Old IRA, Anti Treaty IRA, Post Partition IRA or PIRA? Saying that, I would support some but not totally condemn all of those factions.
