settle down, lee.Your wife and your boss the same day?
I was in Dublin working for a yank, his family are NYYour wife and your boss the same day?
That was about the size of it
I was in Lanza when 9/11 happened, going into transition year
My dad put a few pesetas into the coin operated tv (yes!) and we saw the second plane hit live on CNN.
I asked “is that a film?”
Below us, a pub full of English tourists roaring “fuckin ‘ell”
We still have a Sunday times from the weekend after 9/11, it’s surreal
Must post it up here sometime
I remember going back through Arrecife airport and the place was swarming with armed guardia civil and wanted posters for the Basque separatist group ETA!my parents had taken my younger sisters to euro disney and it happened while they were there. they didn’t see a television or newspaper för maybe three days amd had no idea what had happened. they got to the airport in paris amd it was berserk. they still hadn’t a clue why until they got back to cork![]()
I was there in 2022, I wouldn’t be very emotional but when reading the Irish names which I assume a lot were fire fighters, cops etc it made me incredibly sad.I went to Ground Zero around two years ago. I hadn't planned on going but I was looking for the Dead Rabbit and just kind of ended up there.
I was blown away by how serene and peaceful it was. You're in the heart of lower Manhattan but you can hear a pin drop. I thought the memorial was very nice, and more poignant than I would have expected.
Crazy to contrast that against the scenes we all saw on TV 25 years ago
