25 years tomorrow. Mental eh.

I've been watching footage of the day these last few nights, some of it is mental.

There's a new interview with the chap who checked in the terrorists in Portland and gave them their boarding passes. He said he had a bad feeling about them but was under strict instructions regarding racial profiling so didn't say anything. What a burden to have to live with.

The videos of people jumping from the windows are particularly scary. I looked up to see if anyone who jumped survived, but no.

I dunno, I am still very sceptical as to why the two towers actually collapsed. The planes crashed into the top of them, so how does that explain them both collapsing in the exact same way?

Every few years i find myself binging on videos from that day and the jumpers always shake me to my core, imagine being faced with that decision? Jump to your death or be burned alive or suffocated. The videos of the emergency services reacting to the jumpers hitting the floor is something that stays with you. Huge respect to the emergency services who sacrificed their lives that day trying to save people.

Heard the wife a of firefighter who was killed by a jumper talking about it. His skull was split in two and his nose was broken. She reminisced about how he was so proud of the fact that he had played American football for 20 years and had never broken his nose. Very poignant and moving. A

à great, sad and moving article here about the people who jumped on that day.

this is a great article too about the picture of the falling man

I was working a summer job in a cardboard box factory

There were 2 full time staff and 3 or 4 hired guns Brought in to fulfill contracts.

The 2 full time fellas were sound but not exactly the most career driven go getters you'd get posting here.

They'd have Neil flaking away (tee hee hee) on the radio all morning, there was some hassle with a shop front of some Nigerian owned place up on Shandon Street getting its windows kicked in the night previous and Neil was going hard at the racial angle. News started to filter in about the towers and it was like Neil didn't realise how big it was.

Stuck to his guns, Mentioned it a couple of times as a developing story but stayed with his "Race Riot" lede

The two boys within about 5 mins were like "that'll be that Bin Laden fella"
I had never heard of him before, this was pre smart phones. Internet was only just moving beyond dial up but the lads could tell me he was on the FBI most wanted, he was living in Saudi and was probably the mastermind of the whole thing.

I also remember on the national day of mourning the only shop that was open was Shalom Stores in Jewtown. and literally every business owner in the country bitching about people getting a day off
