Seamas Culleton

Ist cousin of mine was deported from US 25 years ago, she was just turned around at the airport after trying to get back in after returning home for a while.
Just heard there on red fm that he had 25 years to make himself legal and just refused to deport when asked . Why didn't he just legalise himself ? The media as usual comparing things to 1930s Germany due to the the derangement syndrome which is rampant throughout the industry.
Go away and get the correct paperwork and stay out of trouble and you're fine. When I was backpacking in Australia 30 years ago ,I needed everything in order before I went , money in bank , visa , the lot. If you were caught in any trouble you were fucked out straight away, simple as . This is what we need here.
They're comparing it to Nazi.Germany becaue it's comparable to Nazi.Germany

Lots of American citizens have been locked up, just because they're brown or black. American CITIZENS, who should have all the rights and freedoms that come with such citizenship.

A masked "police" force are doing this.

And they've shot people. Murdered Alex Pretti. You call that derangement I call it murder.

We'll have the bizarre situation of Irish politicians demanding that an Irish citizen shouldn't have to come back to Ireland.

Whatever about the people who are already living there, any Irish person who willfully moves over to that dump now seriously needs their head checked. I wonder are kids still doing that J1 thing?

So the issue essentially is that if him staying illegally beyond the terms of his visa now means he is ineligible for being granted a permanent visa.

I would say tough pal.
There are certainly cases that deserve special attention but this isn’t one of them.

You can’t reward people who don’t follow the process.

He is documented though. He has a work permit and is in the process of a green card application

it appears the issue is is was illegal at one point.

Similar to the irish granny who had a few bounced cheques 10 years ago but has been in the US since she was 11 but she was also documented.

There have been 65 deportations from the is to Ireland last year. nobody, except perhaps the people themselves is cribbing about it

Tbh the current Republican administration swept to power in the White House and both houses on a platform of strict immigration measures.

If you didn't have your house in order with all this going on Id have limited sympathy for you.

Someone being detained for 5 months? That would be story no matter where it happened.

It appears he has chosen to stay in the facility to continue his legal appeal though. He could agree to deportation and be gone tomorrow albeit would make his chances of success in appeal for marriage based Green card more remote!

All very unclear though - ICE claiming he signed documents agreeing to be deported. He is saying the signatures are forged!

Yup dug his heels in and then whining about the bed he'd made for himself.
You're ignoring the fact that they issued him with a work Permit.

If that is invalidated because he previously outstayed a visa someone needs to say that but nobody has.

You can't tell someone it's okay to work and here is a cert proving it and then say actually you must be deported despite what we previously told you.
