Russia's unjustifiable war of aggression in Ukraine

We may have our differences over Northern Ireland and more recently Brexit.

However.

Russia is engaged in hybrid warfare with our next door neighbour and we need to stand with them at this time as they face down Putin and his murderous cronies.

To be clear: Russia has attacked our nearest neighbour using chemical weapons. It’s time to support them as they seek to keep their country safe.

Why is it time to support them?

Litvenenko's wife was on Marr yesterday morning. She was very clear. Britain needs to take serious action on Russia or become a laughing stock. She also mentioned she had a letter from the then Home Sec Theresa May saying they would do everything in their power to ensure such a crime could not occur in England again.

Putin is flexing his muscles. Elections, referenda, Ukraine, new missiles at Mach 10+ and he is doing it in a world without a counterweight because Trump is in the White House.

We shouldn’t allow parochial neighbourly disputes about post Brexit hard borders and stuff deflect us from our responsibility as neighbours and friends to call in the Russian ambassador and make very clear how we condemn this attack on a free democratic neighbour.

They’ve gone too far altogether this time and might be assuming that the UK is isolated because of Brexit

Hmmm........are you on the wum?

Did we call in the Russian ambassador when they invaded and annexed Ukraine?
Did we call in the Russian Ambassador when they vetoed the security council resolution on a ceasefire in Syria?
Come to think of it did we call in the Russian Ambassador when they killed Litvenenko?

As for parochial neighbourly disputes about post Brexit borders

No we didn’t call in the ambassador all those other times.

Which is why we should do so now.

We may have disagreements with the British but we have to stand with them now
