The reason why I bring up Belarus because like Ireland we stayed neutral during WW2 but cooperated with the allies when we needed to. The German newspaper BILD reports that there is a "secret German-American Ukrainian plan" under which Zelensky will not be forced into direct negotiations, but will be forced into them by continuing to deliberately supply him with enough weapons, in type and quantity, for him to maintain the current actual line of contact, but deliberately never to the point of being able to regain occupied territories.

BILD notes a particularly cynical aspect of this alleged plan: that the US and Germany could largely decide and impose such a course of action themselves, given that they are the two largest suppliers of materials to Ukraine by volume.

BILD further claims that the aim would be to bring the war, using the political tool of Western arms supplies, to a de facto Minsk 3 situation, but without ever saying so, because it would be Ukraine itself that would choose such an outcome, as it would be unable to achieve anything better.

BILD claims it has a source within the German government and that this thinking comes from the Chancellor's Office, not the Ministry of Defense, and that Defense Minister Pistorius would like to help Ukraine more if he had the authority to do so. BILD also suggests that Berlin and Washington have the same view and the same goal regarding the trajectory that should be given to the war.
