RTE: Radio, Telefis, Empty pockets

Some neck on the RTE chairman on Prime Time. Asked why they continued to pay out about 100k to Ray D’Arcy and Clare Byrne when they voluntarily left before their contracts ended he suggested they were on standby for a few months in case anything happened. Didn’t blink an eyelid as he said it.

RTE love throwing money around. Just look at the nonsense the other week with the RTE live coverage of the Wexford v Dublin hurling game.
A massive platform mounted in the empty terrace just so the pundit team could have a panoramic view of the ground. Absolute crazy stuff for what turned out to be a turgid game. That scaffolding (and labour to mount it) does not come cheap. Yet Joanne and her team couldn't be bothered doing pitch-side punditry like TG4 or GAA+.
You're talking 6 figures alone for insurance, transportation, assembly and disassembly. Utter folly. The Dub supporters standing over on the opposite side could fit in the fucking thing to watch the game :)

Good old Terry O Rourke also chair of the ESB another organisation with questionable carry on over the years when it came to how it dealt with whistle blows etc.

Do they not have a media centre over the old Nally stand?

That particular structure is around since Covid times when it was necessary,if I'm not mistaken. No need for it to be still in use. You'd also wonder why they can't sit in the press section of the stand with the other journalists, probably the best seats in the place. It's Wexford park I wonder do they still have Davey's box or was it decommissioned?

Unbelievable. They got rid of one crook, who is still too ill to attend meetings, give interview or comment in any way on her tenure as DG. Unfortunately they seem to have landed an equally inept chancer in her place.
