Rowing Thread

Here is the first response I've seen to the Kimmage articles. In summary

Fiona Murrtagh thinks Antonio is a wonderful coach.

Fintan Mac bats it away with a cheeky smile and says all is super now.

Dominic Casey says nothing as always while still answering every question.

Niall O'Carroll gave a lengthy interview. I thought he came across well, expressing compassion for athletes that were hurt, while promising to try to prevent all athletes from having similar experiences in the future. Not much more he could say considering he was nowhere near Rowing Ireland during Maurogiovanni's time. Also offered to listen to any forner athlete with something to say.

I've listened to the podcast and read the articles. It's hard to come to a conclusion without actually being there or seeing stuff first hand.
I've heard people suggest O'Donovan was slipping in his form anyway and maybe he found it hard to take.
But then it seems to involve a few different people so it's no just one individual with issues.
We're also in an era where people can't seem to accept any feedback which isn't sugar coated so it's really hard to know who was right or wrong here

I'd agree that it having expanded to others makes this more serious than just a personality clash with Gary O'Donovan. The bigger problem for me is that either there were no proper procedures in place to handle this, or they weren't being followed.
