Rotate Records Update

BTDN001 - SHAKEDOWN - FEELIN GOOD/NO REPLY AT ALL - SHAKEDOWN

Emerging from Philly's Shakedown/Worship Recordings camp comes this hot new two-track bootie delight. Deep house vibes galore on this one, with some heavy dub overtones and late night stylings cruising throughout these two cuts. The A-side "Feeling Good" is a lush male vocal workout with some haunting echoes and guitar work, while the hypnotic female R&B-tined "No Reply At All" conjures up India Arie or Erykah Badu.

CDSR026 - TY TEK & URIAH WEST - PARTY MAN - CASA DEL SOUL

No stranger to the Casa fans, TY TEK is back to shred up the floors once again with the righteous grooves of "Party Man."Nasty, jacking tech-house with a bumping funk edge is the vibe of he original mix, with some bouncing keys accompanying the slamming hypnotic house grooves. Flip it up for Juke Joint's excellent throwback Chicago house vibe, upping the bass and stripping down the groove - this o ne is bound to work nicely for Hodges, Derrick Carter, Phil Weeks and the like.

GR018 - FREESTYLE & JOHN GLOVER - PEOPLE MOVERS 3 EP *DADDY J* - GRAB

The Grab gang bringing the heat once again with the third installment of their ace People Movers series. Some familiar and new faces sharing space this one, with Freestlyle and Glover going deep on "Looking for Teddy" and label boss Daddy Jrocking the driving dirty acid funk. On the flip Aaron Roberts' "On a Rant" is a thumping cut-up Midas-style underground banger, while the hypno-disco of Ralphski and Justice's "Formality" will appeal to the Inland Knights/Troydon fans.

LDM029 – LITTLEMEN - HAPPY HOUR EP - LOWDOWN

Seems like nobody can get enough of the Littlemen sound these days, with ace release left and right on Drop and Mobile Trax. Here the boys come stateside with this choice three-tracker for Lowdown, A-side "Attack Me" is prime time material, with a cool 80's vocal loop worked over properly behind a slmming cut-up house groove. The B-side offers up a pair of proper stripped-down tracks, with the deep keys and driving bass of "New Life" and tracky jack of "Fall Down Sucker" both working nicely for the Inland Knights/Sunlounge fanatics out there. Bound to be a big record without a doubt.

RB001 - MILES MAEDA - HYBRID HOUSE EP - RED BRUNETTE

Chicago's beloved Miles Maeda flexing some dope production skills on this new two-tracker for the Red Brunette label. This EP features a pair of 80s throwback cut-up house re-edits, working a decidedly lo-fi minimal Chicago house style. A-side "Sabbath Day Love" has some deft samplework, while the flip "Brother Dan Says" is a smooth late night chugger. Nice EP that'll work great for the Lawnchair Generals, Phil Weeks and ECB fans.

VISTA021 - URBAN JAZZ NATURALS - URBAN JAZZ *JT RMX* - VISTA

Excellent Midwestern live house group Urban Jazz Naturals - the folks behind the massive "How Can I?" on Gallery - dropping some serious house music heat with their Vista debut. "Can't Get Me Down" features jazzy female vocals from Dawn Weber, mute trumpets, walking bass lines and electric keys; already a favorite on CDR, this goodie is currently being hammered by Mark Farina. Side B gets deeper with the smooth vocal number entitled "Take Me Away" backed up by a fantastic peak time dub from man-of-the-moment DEMARKUS LEWIS. A must for fans of the jazzy deep grooves.

JT002 - BYRAN JONES *JOEY YOUNGMAN* - GROOVE FOUNDATION - JACKIN TRACKS

Joey Youngman's slamming new Jackin' Tracks label is back with it's killer second release. Funky Chi-town jazz heads will be feeling this one BIG TIME, a pumping Key-heavy looper from Byran Jones (one-half of High Caliber.) Think classic cut-up Diz, Heather, Farina jams and you've got it. JOEY YOUNGMAN slams it out with a flawless and filtered, jacked-up dubby re-edit, while the Frequent Flyers turn in a killer Natural Rhythm-styled jazzy dub. Essential release from this white-hot label

AROMA042 - BROWN & STEVE LITTLEMEN - CHANGING - AROMA

Aroma continue to drop bombs and here they unleash another courtesy of Steve Littlemen (yes Steve Littlemen of Little Men, Mobile Trax and Drop Music fame) and his brother from another mother Brown. "Changing" comes in two versions, the first a full vocal workout that is very Inland Knights / Drop etc. The flipside features a rocking dub plus an accapella. This is going to be big!

MMR01 - B MCCARTHY - WHATCHA WANT EP - MEMENTO

Veteran west coast Brendan McCarthy (Doubledown, Tilted, Moody) kicks off the new Memento imprint with a diverse four-tracker of house and breaks. Representing well the San Fran sound is "Whatcha Want", a chunky pass and Rhodes female vocal that recalls vintage Moulton Street and Miguel Migs - shimmering deep house with a soulful jazzy touch. The "So- ulSide" mix is a killer breaky-house version that dubs the percussion for tight tribal groove, while "Spooked" veers in- to abstract drum & bass and ambient territory.

Blake Baxter - One More Time - Mix Media

Blake Baxter with another release for the Mix Media imprint Not quite sure if this is a new Blake track, or a classic cut given new legs by Thomas Fehlmann and Basic Channel s Maurizio, but whatever the case, you get a cracking set of peaktime house gems, with superb strings and steamy beats the order of the day on the Red Planet mixes, while the remainder are throbbing Detroit techno-styled housers

DDR038 - DA SUNLOUNGE & JOHNNY FIASCO - BABY HOW LONG – DOUBLEDOWN
Two of the hottest names in house joining forces on this superb EP for Doubledown. You must be asleep under a rock if you haven't been killing Da Sunlounge's Myna records, and his Doubledown debut is right up there - "Baby How Long" is a trademark crunchy jazz-flavored houser with plenty of bass and drum heat to get the underground floors moving. Fiasco complements with his impeccable mix, upping the percussion and keeping the vibe intact. Slamming stuff from some of the best names in the biz!

JT003 - SOUND NAVIGATORS - SYSTEM SPRAIN *FABRIANI* - JACKIN TRACKS

More proper jacking house music from Joey Youngman's aptly named Jackin' Tracks imprint. This time the Sound Navigators (Cadang, DAE) turn in a stormer with the bottom-heavy bass banger "System Sprain", real chunky Fiasco-styled gear. Remixes come from Youngman himself, with alter ego MARIO FABRIANI turning in a nasty hip-houser with some speed garage bass bombs working the floor and the White Collar Criminals going for a deeper, smoother ride. The sound of now.

ZOOMPH06 - CHUCK DANIELS - THE GET BACK EP - OOMPH

Chuck Daniels returns with this new EP of cuts for the Oomph label "The Get Back" is bumping, chunky serving of house goodness, with a stabbing "I wanna get back" vocal riff joined by crisp beats, stellar analog keys, and a bumping bassline groove, all of which will help to get the main floors moving "Bumpy Nights", as the name would imply, keeps that bumping house groove in full swing, sounding very much like the previous track, but with no vocal track On the flip, Chuck utilizes a sample from the Grover Washington classic, "Hydra", on "Don t Be A Blockhead!", looping it up superbly while shuffling house beats and deep chords help the track into the hearts and feet of all the late night house lovers Not to be missed TRACKS The Get Back/ Bumpy Nights/ Don t Be A Blockhead!

GHR017 - FRAID SO - CORN SMUGGLERS EP - GREENHOUSE

Holding On is skippy and punchy, with solid beats and percussion, jazzy keys, deep stabs, sweet flute elements, spaced-out effects and a head-nodding bass line, as well as some hypnotic vocal elements that will keep the dance floors holding on for certain! Back to Buy is a jackin’ and energetic track, featuring skippy beats, an elastic and moody bass line, quirky vocal snippets, jazzy piano keys and plenty effects. This track has plenty of bump as it moves ’round and ’round workin’ the dance floor.Twitchin is a smooth old-school blend of musical textures. A room shakin bass line collides with freaked-out synth sounds layered with spacey keys and some cool vocal parts. The Twitchin Remix take things deeper, with punchy beats and percussion, subtle keys, deep stabs, spaced-out effects, a solid bass line, and some cool vocal elements.
