Rory Gallagher Gaa coach

If he has a criminal conviction for abuse he shouldn't pass the garda vetting...provided the club carries out vetting.

I would always take these things with caution as with family law cases and bitterness there is a lot of accusations and outright lies thrown around. I encounter it professionally a fair bit.

If this is true however and the club are aware of it then that is a very serious issue.
I think the club were recently informed and haven’t acted on it.
No conviction because the kids didn’t want their father put in prison, they informally told gardai what was happening but no statement made because!! - before gardai take a statement from children they sit them down and set it all out- will you be able to go into court and speak to the judge and if the judge believes you and rule guilty are you ok with your Dad/Mom going to jail. Most children say no I don’t want them going to jail and that’s the end of it..
What I’m told is The supervision order was put in place not because of wish wasjy stuff between parents because of multiple reports from different children’s therapists which documented the abuse, neglect and physical injuries and the recommendation to court from Tusla.
And that parent is still coaching away other peoples children ..

My understanding is that the family are going to the media next week and have letters ready to go to County Board and Mr Jarleth about the whole thing.

Then the club is completely at fault.
Again children suffering which will impact them later in life.

There's a part of me hopes he cleans them out.

Id be very surprised if Gallagher doesn't win his case.

Imo there was malice and the reputational damage is clear. That Burns almost immediately went on the Late Late and stated he wouldn't withdraw the email left Gallagher little option but to go through the courts.

Gallagher has not been charged or prosecuted for any crime. He has vehemently denied the allegations of his former partner.

Burns intervention with Naas GAA cost Gallagher publicly and professionally. He strikes me as a sanctimonious individual and he left himself and the organisation wide open to legal action. I hope the courts instruct him to make a full public apology.

What I find strange is J.Burns came out and spoke against an unconvicted R.G but said nothing about a convicted member in Kyle Hayes.

I am not advocating for either position and/or person but it just seems a bit 'all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others'.

There must be a lot more to this story than what we know down here in the South. The legal case will clarify if there is or isn’t.

Regardless, what I don’t understand is how the president can interfere in the process the association has or put additional requirements in place for one particular individual who wishes to coach. A coach who has passed the vetting process. I don’t understand that.
It’s my understanding that Gallagher was never even charged not to mind convicted with any crime and was even awarded full sole custody of his own children by the courts on the recommendation of social services.
But, right now there is a club in Cork with a person coaching young children who can only meet their own if a professional supervisor is present. Something ain’t right.

Not only was he not charged but he was cleared by the GAA's own internal discipline procedures.

Burns had no business getting involved.

He seems to love the limelight. It's telling Ryan is named in the action. He's the decision maker in the GAA. The presidency is largely only a ceremonial role.

Jaaaargh-lath looks to have gone full Miggeldy in the post.

I'd imagine you could argue the Hayes case had been "dealt with". Convicted, sentence handed down, etc.

And socially, I suppose it's more acceptable to be proven to have beaten a man on a night out than simply be accused of beating your own wife/mother of your children.

There's also the difference between a player and a coach.

But it's all muddy waters. It wasn't a clever or necessary move by Burns, but it's hard to see how a court case of this nature can ultimately harm Burns and the GAA more than it could harm Gallagher himself.

I think he had little choice really.

Burns interference put the finger of guilt on him and its telling he wanted the Gah president to withdraw the email.

Someone with the ego of Burns thought it a better bet to double down on the nations main Friday night show.

Its down to the courts now. If I were a betting man Id say Gallagher will succeed in his action. He will get his apology.
