After a quick dig I see Live Nation gaiety holdings are the Irish subsidiary of Live Nation, co-owned by promoter Denis Desmond. They own Electric Picnic. They turned pre tax profits of €29.81 in 2021.

Buying it and donating it to the National Musuem allowed them to present the cost of the guitar against tax.

I did a quick tot off the Bonham's final sale. 90 of the 92 lots had sale prices.

2 random guitars did not, so i would guess there was hassle with the bids.

Total sale prices including premium was £2.3 Mill.

Based on the Strat and the Martin acoustic the premium is 27.5%

Strat was 889,400k - 700k hammer price is 189,400/700,000 = 27.5% on top of sale price

This holds for the martin acoustic 102K for an 80k hammer price is 27.5%

So overall Donal took home about £1.66 Million Gross. No idea what the tax bill is.

The next most expensive lot was the 'backup strat', 100k hammer price, £127400 with the premium (there is the 27.5% ish again)

Cheapest item was an amp for £3200

I would say this was a successful stint for the Gallaghers

Did she lose the run of herself or what? Was it bought with her own money or the donations? This strikes me very much as a panic buy.

I have never seen a photo of Rory with an Epiphone Coronet. There are pictures of him with Les Paul Juniors (which look slighty incongruous), Danelectros and even a Silvertone.

Fuck it, here's a photo of Fontaines DC's Carlos O'Connell playing Rory's Epi Coronet. This will have to do.

She updated the gofundme to say she would be going over to buy whatever she could and donors could get refunds if they were heart set on the strat

The news said proceeds from the auction would go into a Rory Gallagher legacy project so that'd be cool.

A Rory Gallagher wing of the new Crawford would be a great addition to the city.
