Fair dues - that's the spirit that'll get Irish rugby out of its current rut!!
Its not a rut we are in, its a TRENCH FFS..

Our ghoys are going to need to rely on a combination of overwhelming fire support, infiltration, and specialised close-quarters tactics. They will need to abandon the longer range stuff and aim to bypass the defensive advantages of trenches by moving quickly to close the distance and engaging in hand-to-hand combat

Are there a few stock cliches that rugby jocks use in interviews? Like in the soccer, you have lads who will always use the "obviously" "the gaffer" "at the end of the day" "a lot of honesty" "he'll learn from that" "not that type of player" "I didn't see it" etc

Very much so:

"work-ons" - either the match went really well and you're pretending you've learned something from it, or it has gone horribly wrong and you're underplaying just how bad it was

"earn the right to go wide" - you've damaged your opposition enough that maybe it's time to trying running and passing instead of just using big players human battering rams.

"trust the process" - I'm scared of the manager

"full credit to the boys/opposition" or "the forwards did the hard work" - I played really well, probably scored a few tries, but I'm trying to come across as humble.

"We hadn't enough bodies on feet to engage in the contestables". 🤯
Gonna struggle to win the collisions and impose your physicality if you've not got enough bodies on feet to engage the contestables. Certainly not going to be overcoming the honeypotting with many jackals if bodies aren't being put on the line and emptying the tank. Need to front up, put in a shift and control the controllables.
