Robert Lewandowksi - one of the world's best?

What do people make of Lewandowksi? Increasingly now I hear him compared with Messi and Ronaldo, and only a few days ago Robert Pires came out and said he deserves the Ballon D'Or.

Granted he breaks records left right and centre with Bayern, but often he's tapping the ball in from a few yards after Sane or Kimmich has done the heavy lifting. Poland were fairly poor in the Euros despite having this apparent titan leading the charge, when he was lacking the supporting players.

Is he one of the best players in the world, or is his status over-inflated because of his success at Bayern?

IMO he's top class but not comparable to Messi or Ronaldo. They're the full package, but Lewandowski is a full on striker, although to be fair he has scored a few crackers in his time too (including one beauty when he scored 5 in 9 minutes against Wolfsberg a few years ago.)

One of the greatest strikers of his generation.

If it was so fucking easy to just "tap it in" we'd all be doing it. It's a damn myth anyway, as he also contributes to the build up play and provides assists too.

Comparisons with Messi and Ronaldo are not needed. He's not as good as them, but neither are Benny or Ibra. Still top class players though.

You can log back in as Doppey btw. Rookie mistake MOE.

He was also brilliant for Dortmund in his last few years there. Himself, Reus & Götze tore up the CL in 2013, were just unlucky to come up short in the final. The semi first leg against Real was breathtaking stuff with Lewandowski often dropping into the space behind the Real midfield to cause them fierce problems.

Watched that game in an Irish bar in Nice.

Was a great match.

He's one of the great goal scorers of this or any generation but compared to Messi for instance....behave.

The late Gerd Muller another great goal scorer but nobody seriously mentioned him in the same breath as Cryuff or Beckenbauer for that matter.

Ballon D'Or, a dubious political bauble (imho). Who cares who wins it, apart from the winner I suppose.

I’d have Ronaldo and Messi well clear of anyone who’s played since Diego.

Of Lewandowskis generation I’d only have Suarez ahead of him.

Hazard, Neymar, Ibra and Bale all have equal or greater talent than Lewandowski but his consistency and professionalism shades it.

Suarez had one of the best ever individual seasons in the premier league, complemented Messi brilliantly and had a 59 goals in 53 appearances season in 2015/2016. He was the only player not named Messi or Ronaldo to win this award in 11 seasons. He did it twice, sharing with Ronaldo in 2013/14.

Played a huge part In Atletico (Lieti) winning la liga last season and had an exceptional international career with Uruguay.

Lewa has 497 goals in 706 club games.
Suarez has 442 goals in 693 club games.

Lewa has 72 in 124 for Poland.
Suarez has 64 in 123 for Uruguay.

Lewandowski has slightly the better stats but I think Suarez has a greater wow factor and had a higher top level.
Suarez was a Rooney/Aguero hybrid and Lewa is a Van Basten/Lineker hybrid.

Both are bona fide greats though and I’d have zero arguments with someone picking the Pole first among those in the tier below Messi/Ronnie.
