Where does one see what is in mind for the Morrisons Island re-vamp?
And any update on when Bishop Lucy Park is going to reopen, and when/if there'll be a name change?
They're installing an underground cycle lane to stop old lads like you cribbing about cyclists.BTW, what's going on at the top of South Mall - where the monument to the Cork 1st Brigade was - across the river from Charlies Phoenix etc. There's been a huge clearance there - looks way wider than anything to do with excavating pipes, unless of course they've forgotten where they actually laid the pipes I suppose
If u thinks it's bad during the day...try getting around town or suburbs after darkAll advertised in last weeks Examiner giving everybody plenty of notice as well as the longer term ongoing street enhancements and water main works.
Patrick St works were completed early AFAIK.
Rather do these works now than when the schools go back?
Anyway you walked and the city is by-passed and you do not need to drive through the city unless you are going there for business etc.
Had the ultimate misfortune of coming across that yesterday just after 11.00am.Whatever you do, don’t try to drive in and out of CUH around 5 o’clock anytime soon.

On my walk in to work this morning I was struck by the number of streets that are restricted or just fully blocked off due to road-works at the moment. I can't remember it ever being so widespread tbh. And in the hope of helping other PROCers avoid unnecessary log-jams because so few of these blockages are flagged in advance here's what I spotted this morning
High Street
Summer Hill South
Sullivans Quay
South Mall
Grand Parade
South Main Street
Was stuck by the number of people working without the requisite PPE. One guy using an angle-grinder in front of The Capitol had ear-defenders - not one of his six colleagues in close proximity did, but no mask or safety glasses. Needless to say none of his colleagues had any masks or safety-glasses either, though all saw the wisdom of high-viz vests and hard-hats.
Anyways, hopefully these roadworks will come to an end soon. Did the digging up of Patrick Street finish by the way - the electronic signs warning of it said it would be finished by August 12th
Tuckey Street only started in March ish and I know a trader there and he says that they are flying it progress wise and the contractors have been great and accommodating.I should of course have included Tuckey Street and Hanover Street to that list.
Tuckey Street has been dug up for yonks.
Eastern half of Hanover Street just leads to SMS which is in absolute bits, or to Little Cross Street which is effectively blocked with the outside tables and chairs of Reardens.

The works just have to be done.
The street is being pedestrianised.Did the trader tell you what exactly they're supposed to be doing there? The footfall in that street is minimal now. We're the middle of August now so depending on what's to be done, "only" started in March could be pushing it a bit.
