On this day we remember those that fought bravely for Irish Independence during the 1916 Easter Rising but here are some other notable revolutions against Imperialism in the 19th & 20th century just as our own.
1811 Venezuela became the first Indepenent country in Latin America from the Spanish Empire due to Simón Bolívar & Francisco de Miranda.
Karađorđe led the first Serbian Uprising,1804-1813 and the first nationalist rebellion against the Ottomans. The Serbian Candlemas Constiution 1835 became the first in the Balkans.
Revolutionary Arab Nationalists in the 1925 Syrian Revolt & who would go on to become important political leaders in the country. Sultan Al Atrash, Abd al-Rahman Shahbandar, Jamil Mardam Bey, Shukri al-Quwatli & Nasib al Bakri.
1983 coup d'état of Upper Volta by revolutionary leader Thomas Sankara who made major changes & renamed the country Burkina Faso.
