This is the major issue for most people, they would probably put up with everything if the extra money made was used wisely on projects that benefit society.

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that in Ireland.

I wonder how long unclaimed deposits have to be accounted for as a liability on their books?

And what happens to expired deposits?

If I recall, some of the announced profits are put aside to cover unreclaimed deposits. assume this amount rolls over yearly in account figures, from memory its 30 mill.

The bottles have been done forever and tbh I've never heard about unreclaimed deposits.

I find it hard to imagine any Germans leaving any few cent go into the rubbish bin.

I've seen homeless people collecting empties in Munich when there's an event on. The bins are not fishable so they don't have that issue. I think the lads drinking on the street just leave the bottles there for the homeless to collect.

i need to figure out how to swindle some serious $$ out of this re-turn operation. i bet there is an opening for a ballsy operator to get in there, enjoy the cash for a decade or so, and then spend my twilight years in various tribunals and what not. ideal!!
