Rattling Ark is an experimental Irish folk project led by acclaimed cellist Kevin Murphy, alongside Thomas Haugh and Lizzie Murtagh, with Consuelo Breschi completing the lineup. Rooted in traditional music yet boldly exploratory, their sound blends cinematic cello, zithers, electronics and fiddle, drawing comparisons to Pentangle, The Gloaming and The Haxan Cloak.
Their debut album, Top of a Mountain, released on 19 June 2026, places the cello at the heart of Irish jigs, reels and folk songs, creating a lush sound world that bridges the earthly and the otherworldly. Shaped by Murphy’s extensive collaborations with artists including Bon Iver, The National, Lisa Hannigan and Iarla Ó Lionáird, Rattling Ark deliver a powerful, immersive live performance informed by award‑winning work across experimental music, film and theatre.
Niamh Dalton is a multi-instrumentalist based in Cork City. Fiddle being her main instrument, she sits within the Irish and Old-Time fiddle traditions as well as exploring extended technique, improvisation and experimenting with pedals and cross tunings.
Ana Palindrome, recently signed to London label World of Echo, is her main project alongside bandmates Sara Leslie & Ruairí de Búrca, combines fiddle, viola, singing, and electronics to create disorientated and hypnotic songs reflective of a dark surrealist tradition within the Irish arts.
Niamh is also a member of Tra Pháidín, an Irish nine-piece collective from Conamara, Galway.
