Can you fly from Ireland? was considering going to Istanbul next year but Sarajevo might be an interesting shout.

No, but it's very handy if you fly with Lufthansa via Frankfurt or Munich.

The infrastructure down there is shocking due to the war. When U2 played there they'd to go down and rebuild some bridges beforehand just so their trucks could get into the city.

I'm going to Istanbul some time later this year. It's the most amazing city I've ever been to and I've wanted to go back since but I've just never had a chance. Now with a few months off and some spare cash, I'm going back. Might even go to Sarajevo on that trip too.

Movie recommendation. Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson played a secret show in Sarajevo during the Siege. The venue was getting shelled the day of the show. His bassist Chris, who was heavily involved in the film, is a close friend of mine and still wells up if he thinks about being there during the siege. They were able to leave, others were stuck there.

I might chat to you about Istanbul before I go, was talking to a Turkish lad a few weeks back and he told me flights from Dublin with Pegasus Air are dirt cheap, like 150 euro return!!

Just check which airport you're flying into. There's the main one, and then the other one which is quite a busy airport but wayyyyyyy out of town.

It's an unbelievable city. I stayed in a place up on the hills by the blue mosque. There was a rooftop bar where I sat with a beer and watched all the container ships sailing through the Bosphorus at sunset, it was an amazing experience.

Istanbul is pretty cool alright, was that Sultanamet you were in? Boppy should go, the simple act of not groping a girl means you are 80% there after their ordeals of walking around the city for the day.

Now whether Boppy can control himself or not is another question I suppose.

Yeah Sultanahmet. I actually didn't even get over to Taksim, I stayed near my hostel most of the time. I did make the Grand Bazar though and I got the ferry over to Asia. Cost me around €1 to travel between continents

Not all Serbs. The country is making strides to move away from being just pro Russian, Ukrainian Pres Zelenskyy was in Belgrade recently.

Absolute tosh, whereas rest of Balkans have moved on Serbia dreams of the days of Greater Serbia….They are going nowhere fast until Vučić and all those remnants of the Balkan wars are removed from positions of power that they occupy now…Greenland will be part of the USA before Serbia gets into the EU…
