I've revaluated my take on the new Toy Story.
I was thinking that there isn't many if any other kids franchises that transcend a generation .
Toy Story 5 didn't mean much to me but I realised in hindsight I was judging it through the eyes of an adult.
My girls on the other hand loved it, in much the same way that I love the first Toy Story.
The Andy era was mine and the Bonnie era is now my girls.
I loved Woody and Buzz.
My girls love Jessie.
I think it's special to have a movie franchise that can mean equally as much to me as it does my girls but with different movies, striking different chords, 30 years apart.
I don't know if there's another kids franchise that has evolved over time like that to leave an imprint on two different generations of kids.
To me that's no mean feat.
I actually think they should continue making them.
Phase out Woody and Buzz and introduce the next cohort of characters being passed down from Bonnie onto whomever.
I could end up bringing my future grandkids to Toy Story 8 and they can roll their eyes as I say "the first one is still the best" as their mother scoffs and says "number 5 is where it really begins" and so on.
That would actually be pretty special tbphwy m8s.
