Rate the last movie you watched out of 10

I watched One Battle After Another, the new PTA effort, last night.

Overall it's enjoyable, maybe I was expecting too much from it. Star heavy (DiCaprio, Penn, Del Toro) and well acted with good pacing but felt a bit empty. It reminded me a lot of Kill Bill which is one of my least favourite Tarantino movies.

It kind of annoys me when people call movies like this a 'black comedy'. I'm sure if watched in the cinema there would be laughter but I raised a half smile perhaps once throughout. I think most people will enjoy it though so will rate it:

7.5 / 10.

dumb and dumber
proper belly laughs
8/10

i just asked my eldest to pick a film and she landed on that. she only rated it as 6/10 😬🥲

casting jeff daniels was unforeseen and a genius stroke. i listened to a podcast a while back with one of the farrelly brothers (maybe bobby) and all their characters are just people they knew growing up. they never even had an interest in making films until they just did a script for a laugh and managed to sell it.

the warren character with special needs in there’s something about mary was based on a real life friend as well. iirc they just always promised him they’d put him in a film 🥹

"Pullover"
"It's a cardigan but thanks for noticing"
😂😂😂

I've always liked Kingpin, Woody Harrelson, Bill Murray and a smoking hot Vanessa Angel.

I'd say a lot of these 80s/90s movies don't resonate as well with young people now.
Someone I know tried watching Back To The Future with their teenagers recently and they didn't like it.
Stupid morons.

6.5/10

Wolfs with George Clooney and Brad Pitt, I was wet for most of it which was a bit uncomfortable, it was an ok watch but nothing to write home about.
