Fresh 4/10

Disillusioned by the world of dating apps, yer one from Normal People bumps in the Winter Solider while out grocery shopping and decides to succumb to his oozing charm. What starts off as the budding beginnings of new relationship, quickly turns as Iron Fist unusual tastes come to the fore in this stylish horror.

What could have been a top top quality horror, so utterly fails in the final act that it actually ruined the entire film. Brilliantly acted by both and shot beautifully, there was a consistent sense of tension and terror throughout until the finale.

What a waste

Misson Impossible, the last one.

Fuckin Ludicrous movie, I loved it

Laughed my ass off in a full enough cinema for a Tues night 4 weeks or so after release.

Whole first hour I didn't have a fuckin clue what was happening. There were call backs to plot points in the other movies going back 30 years now. They even splice in old clips to tell you what to should know. Still hadn't a glimmer.

Loads of scenes were paying obviously homage to other movies. There was a bit of Hunt for a red October, Raiders of the Lost Arc, The Abyss and Top Gun.

The whole thing is mad, particularly when you remember they are actually doing all the stunts with no CGI jiggery poker.

It was good fun, but utterly stupid.

The Cruiser still got it.

6/10
The yellow and red planes scenes were sheer hilarity.

they could have thrown the henchman fella flying the yellow one a few lines. He was weirdly prominent for a redshirt.

'here is my buddy who is really good at holding buttons'
SPOILER ALERT!!! The main baddy's death was fantastic. Balls pulped then he's brained by the tail. Very satisfying.

Mission:Impossible (1996)

In a fit of nostalgia I stuck this on Netflix.

it stands up well..The tech is obviously quite dated.

In a pre Internet era he is trying to steal a spreadsheet on a floppy disk for $150k and the high tech hacker fella has to type "send jamming signal" and the like but it's way less of an action flick and more a spy film noir. Everyone is running around in trench coats and trilbys practicing spy craft.

Kristin Scott Thomas is certainly cast in that
vein. she looks like a million bucks. Some 1940s femme fatale. Vanessa Redgrave the auld wan arms dealer is having the time of her life.

The action bits in Prague, the scene where he is on the suspension cable robbing the vault and the bit in the channel tunnel are all class.

Mad how strength and conditioning landed sometime in the mid 2000s. Cruiser looks like atlas in 2025 compared to his 1996 equivalent.

It's a solidly enjoyable 1hr 50mins where men are men, women are would start wars for their husbands and French people are untrustworthy.

6/10

Edit: And one of the henchmen is in Die Hard. The fella who cuts the phone lines with the chainsaw

I watched the previos one over the last two nights.

Enjoyable enough nonsense. Taking a few beats from John Wick in the first hour.

Saw the one before last in the cinema and I'm tempted to go along to see this. Worth seeing the set pieces on biggest screen you can find.

He sure loves running 😁
