Freaky Things 4/10

Herald as a love child between Scott Pilgrim and Sin City, this 80s style multi faceted story about punk rockers, rappers, a superstar basketball player and a Pedro Pascal hitman conjoin to fight the good fight against a local Nazi gang.

While on paper this sounds like the makings of something special, in reality it just didn't hit the mark for me. Expectations were set too high from Internet reviews.

Vivarium 6/10

Uncomfortable horror starring Zuckerberg and Poops who become trapped in a hellish suburban landscape from which they are unable to escape. The plot thickens when a baby is left on their doorstep, that tests their relationship to the brink.

Cant believe I slept on this one. If you take out the horror element and watch from a social commentary point of view, the issues it raises have never been more prevalent. From the imprisonment of suburbia, the mundanity of the daily grind and the affects of having an unwanted child on a relationship, are all on display.

Check it out.

Left me feeling sick afterward. Very nightmarish.

Sinners 7.5/10

Rocky double impacts this dusk till dawn remake about 2 gangster soldiers who return to their hometown to set up a juke joint.

Drenched in all aspects of black culture, Jordan exudes coolness in Ryan Couglers ode to their history, racism, slavery and music.

But at its heart its the music that is played front and centre with an absolutely cracking sound track. There is a rendition of the Rocky Road to Dublin that left goosebumps on my arm.

By the end though I couldn't help but wonder if this was a prequel to Blade.

Worth a trip to the cinema

Cuck - 4/10
An isolated loser goes down the alt-right youtube rabbit hole while simultaneously being manipulated into playing a cucked husband in homemade porn movies. Not as smart as it thinks it is.

The most affecting thing about it was that it underlined to me how much that deranged online patriot culture from the US has taken root over here. Bleak shit, indeed.
