The Matrix Reloaded|Revolutions

What an utterly frustrating franchise. There are plenty of great elements here, Weaving plays an absolute blinder, the action scenes are coherent (no shaky cam) and special effects still hold up for most part. They Burly Brawl and highway chase still stand out.

Its all the bits in between that really drag the films down. The whole Merovingian character and the virtual orgasm scene is totally unnecessary. The Zion rave, the never ending Trinity death scene, the hokey script about choice, love and destiny.

I genuinely believe that the Wacky Bros never wrote or directed the first movie. All of their films and tv shows have their grubby woke bdsm fingerprints all over them but the first is completely devoid of them, outside of Trinity's costume.

Like Star Wars, this franchise is another lost opportunity

Watched The Matrix again a few weeks ago. Still blown away by it. Against my better judgement I took a punt off Reloaded again. Lasted about 20 minutes....

Watched half of Queer (2024) last night. I actually like gay cinema and loved Call me by your Name (same director).

However this one is a little bit too gay altogether - serious sex scenes. And cause it's William S Burroughs it gets all trippy.
I'll watch the rest of it tonight mind you. Great recreation of 1950s Mexico.

Also an interesting sountrack - done by Trent Reznor and features remixes of Nirvana songs.
