He was always something of a boyhood hero of mine.

A throwback to a forgotten time where you could go and discover bits of the earth that no man had set foot.

I read his book Survival of the Fittest when i was in school about him running 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days. it was a book from a different planet to today. Knowledge about nutrition and the like was way different and I marvelled at the fact their kidneys were shutting down after a week.

These days as long as you gorge on enough sugary goo you can keep going more or less forever. Fuckit even Dafty's rival for Vogue Williams affections, Spenny has done it. so the barriers appears to be having to work for a living or not

Mad, Bad and Dangerous to know came out later and catalogs all the mad shit he did and got away with because he was an aristocrat. Blowing up a movie set, cutting off his own fingers. A hard bastard. A lot of it was a love story to he then recently deceased wife, who in her own right became an expert on Radios in polar regions. Anyway that one ended with a young wan slotting in and how lucky he was

Well her kid, the rest of his 'first family' and everyone who knows him starting going to the media this week saying there was Skullduggery happening, he was being admitted to care homes using an alias they hadn't seem him in about 2 years

Cops saying he's grand.

Could be elder abuse, could be perfectly 'normal' family shit, could be his wishes.

Anyway I hope he's alright.

I read about this yesterday. Sounds like everyone is locked up in NDAs. You'd hope that somehow someone gets word of where he is. Can't be too many old lads knocking about those places with almost all their fingertips gone.

A true hero of mine. I will never forget when I first saw him steal the performance of a lifetime in the epic Shindler’s list, and was thrilled to see him awarded for his talents in the English patient.

A man of unmatched talent.

Ah yes, the late great Ralph Fitzfiennes
