Radio Friendly Rewind

https://radiofriendlyrewind.dpdns.org/

I’ve been working on a little personal project lately—a web station that streams 24/7 recordings of old shows. The idea is to schedule them around the times they originally aired, so it feels authentic. There’s also a fallback playlist running in case something goes wrong, so there’s always something playing.

This is just a personal project, so I’m not looking to step on anyone’s toes. What I would ask is: if anyone has recordings from the station, I’d love to get my hands on them. If they’re on old tapes, I’d even be happy to digitize them for you. I’ve already pulled everything I could find from SoundCloud and Mixcloud (huge thanks to David Nagle for the massive collection there), but if you know of any other sources online, please let me know.

I’m not looking for sweat mixes or promo CDs—just the actual shows. Other than that, enjoy! The station should be appearing on the TuneIn app soon.

Ha, brilliant! Listening now. Andromeda Variations by Orkestra Galactica on now means we're off to a good start...:-)

They're advertising the Radio Friendly Christmas Party at Henrys with Dr. Bob Jones. Some line-up. Neil Rush on now!

On the same nostalgia tip..as it happens we are playing outside the Beamish Counting House tomorrow evening at 6.15pm as part of the Christmas festivities and we'll be doing a few house numbers including Atmosphere by Kerri Chandler. I first heard that tune and saw Kerri play in Sir Henrys so interesting playing right across the road from there. I'll definitely give the place a nod while we're banging that out.

Nice one, Sparks. Huge respect for all the DJs that put their time into this and of course Mr. P and Ms Ken D who set it up originally.

Brilliant, well done bud, a friend of mine sent it to me last week.

I tuned in the other night to the blissful sounds of Ronan C, god be with the days

Thanks for this il most certainly be enjoying this on the regular.

As it so happens I think I do have a box of old Henry’s and Friendly tapes in my parents attic along with a load of record I’ve been meaning to take down forever.

I’ll get it done over the Christmas holidays and will pass on anything from radio friendly

Jesus, that's a name I haven't heard in a very long time. Great dj. Didn't he have the record shop upstairs on Singers corner, or was that someone else? The Vinyl Room?

That’s right, unbelievable record shop when Ronan bothered to show up and open it, one of the best selections of US Deep house you’ll ever find

His opening hours were erratic enough alright. Always had some good hip hop in, too. There was a fella called Gordon working there too who went on to manage a punk band, I think. Two sound lads.
