Puc....

To me the administration of cork gaa will forever be typified by the crumbling unsafe mess that is our counties "greatest venue".

It looks now like the HSA has ignored the issue as much as the county board to a point where Croke park has done something about it.

Honestly though, 20k people in puc is still to much on safety grounds.

I don't see why Semple or the Gaelic Grounds need to have their capacitys reduced. They appear to be in fine working order. Even 20000 seems a little excessive for Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

Frank Murphy has promised to say another Mass to prevent it falling down or people getting crushed under the "covered stand" and a promise to have "something done" by 2018 when he himself will have an "in house" review and refer safety issues (if any) to the Vatican.

No harm, The place is a death waiting to happen.

How are they reducing the capacity though? Close the uncovered and reduce numbers on the terraces?

Could Pairc Ui Rinn become the main stadium? Hold about 18k at the moment and with the plans for the new stand who knows? Tight pitch for Hurling though.

I'd love it if they played all the league games in Pairc Ui Rinn. Better atmosphere and fantastic surface.

No surprise really, the park is a 70's relic that isn't fit for purpose. The new stadium is long overdue but it should have a max 35-40k capacity,no need for 60k as has been spoken of.

You won't be so happy with that situation come next June for Cork v Tipp/Limerick and Cork v Kerry.

25k will probably cover the pairc for Cork Kerry. Animals won't travel.

In fairness, its a miracle someone wasn't badly hurt over the last few years. If anything they appear to be getting worse year on year when they have an anyway big crowd.

They couldn't even manage the football match v Limerick a couple of years ago when there was about 15 thousand there. Was down 20 mins before throw in got in 10 mins late.
