Pubs reopening June 29th

Doubt it was only €5K to quash the civil case tbh.

An unprovoked serious attack with quite a degree of viciousness all captured on video and played out in the courtroom was unlikely to lead to a mere fine no matter how much of a "pillar of society" both were going to be portrayed.

One suspects that there was more than just alcoholic drinks involved in this debacle. And why a publican, who'd surely be more au fait than most with the possible adverse affects of alcohol consumption, can use that as mitigation is a bit of a puzzler.

One of the articles mentioned 15 vodkas and Baileys. Mental stuff.

If you ever met this guy you'd struggle to have sympathy for him. He's a real "slick Rick"

What happened? Words were exchanged and a row broke out? Did the two lads at the bar tell them to get f*cked when the Chawkes gave them the "big un" as the tans would say?

Chawkes were getting cranky and nasty with bar staff when they were told that food no longer being served. One of the victims told them to leave the staff alone and chaos ensued!!

Maybe they'll get a few quid appearing in a snickers commercial

"you're not you when you're hungry"

Imagine being a good looking, wealthy guy, with your own business, living in the best part of Dublin City, with everything going for you. And one stupid night after a rake of drink you do something that ends up with you spending a year of your life in jail.

It's actually scary to think about. Reminds me a bit of Tralee Meth man. Obviously very different cases but both with a totally uncessary fall from grace. At least Bill will be out in a year or so, but I'd say his problems won't end with his release. Hard to see him ever running a bar again, which is a fair hindrance for a lad in a family famous for their bars.
