Pubs reopening June 29th

I'll have a buggy I think but he's well able to walk and run around, he's grown so much. To be fair he's very well behaved and I've never once heard him cry, so hopefully it'll go well. I've never had to look after a child before so I'm fucked if anything goes wrong 🤣

Your in-laws are having you mind a little nephew that never cries all on your ownsome.

Ever get the impression that they're trying to convince you that life-changer...er....kids mightn't be as bad as you think. 😇

Wow - great news. Can't wait to try it out. Awful shame that such a nice venue went under. They'd spent a lot of money doing it up and we used to frequent it on occasion. Yeah Ms Reidy was a bit of "an acquired taste" but it was a nice pub. Hope they don't have to gut it too much internally.

And Douglas too.

Wow, some big news for a few landmark Cork pubs.

O'Súilleabháins has been named Ireland's best traditional pub, and also best newcomer.

Meanwhile the Liberty has been awarded best LGBTQXYZ+ pub.

In a world littered with so called "heritage" and "racing" pubs, it's lovely to see these real Cork institutions being recognised.

Congratulations to all.

I found a decent pub in Cahir at last.

Morrisseys, with a nice view of the castle.

Cahir is fairly quiet on the pub front.

You have the Punters Rest, which is just a gambling/drinking pub that was open when I got here this morning. Lads in there drinking double vodkas and cokes before going down to Zach Bryan in SVPUC.

The Shamrock Lounge, which looks like a pub from the outside but was just full of farmers scoffing roast dinners with pints of milk. I turned around and left.

The bar in the Cahir House Hotel. Very nice hotel bar. Bar manager is from Blarney.

Morrisseys now. Good traditional pub in a great location. It was one of those pubs though where everyone turned to look at me when I walked in the door. Good pintmen propping up the bar.

The Galtee Inn is next, for food. By my estimation that's it for Cahir. They only have five pubs, of which one is in a hotel and another is basically just for food.

Sad.

Over 3 hours later and no sign of any of the food - I’d say MOE has stayed in Morrisey, told the young fellah : “Eating is Cheating” and they’re in there til he’s picked up 😜

Your wan at the bar looks a right lasher.
