Pubs reopening June 29th

I've a day to kill in Cahir on Saturday. Any decent bars there? Ideally somewhere I could have lunch in. I know nothing about the place
The castle is nice. There is a lovely walk between the castle car park and the swiss cottage.

With the caveat that I haven't been out there in years, both Irwins and Morrisseys were decent traditional pubs. No idea where to go for food there.

There's a place on the main street around the corner as you come from Cork - called The Galtee Inn used be good long go and did a fabulous steak - a must stop. But I haven't been in Cahir in an age though

How in gods name have you ended up there?

I had the misfortune of driving from Wexford to Kerry about 6 weeks ago because I didn't bother to check the journey and just set off, had already come Dublin - Wex that morning. I drove through New Ross, Mooncoin, Carrick-on-suir, Clonmel, Cahir, Mitchelstown, Mallow, Botharbue, Castleisland, Tralee, and finally Brandon Bay

Holeee fuck.. some drive, and some collection of shitholes

It's the late father in laws birthday so his wife and the kids are climbing some mountain in Cahir in his honour. I'm coming along to mind the nephew for the day while they're at that.

So it'll be myself and a one year old on the piss for the day in Cahir. I'm after buying him a little rugby ball so if we can find a park we'll have a throw around, but we'll mostly be on the pints and having some lunch.

Bring a buggy or scooter etc. The path from the car park has fairy doors and wooden sculptures etc. Really nice for kids.

I'll have a buggy I think but he's well able to walk and run around, he's grown so much. To be fair he's very well behaved and I've never once heard him cry, so hopefully it'll go well. I've never had to look after a child before so I'm fucked if anything goes wrong 🤣
