Pubs reopening June 29th

Did you ever watch the documentary about the time he went to Santiago de Compostella In a currach with a few fellas from connemara?

Genuinely one of the best craic things I've seen on telly

you might get it on the TG4 player it was up there for ages
I don't think any of them were from Connemara. Danny Sheehy RIP and Brendan Begley were from Corca Duibhne.

I stand corrected

The message at the end of the movie about Danny Sheehy floored me..What a nice man
No bother. Danny was both a gentleman and a scholar I drank a few pints with himself and his son over the years and you could not be in better company. He previously rowed around Ireland with another great character from the area Ger O Ciobhán along with a trip to Iona more recently.

So the barman from the local had his trial in a rival pub tonight and has already been offered a job. There will be war.

I broke the news to The Mrs and she called him a dim fucker, but in defence of him I asked Gemini to speak to his qualities. I like the results -

The way I look at Johnny is that he's walked through life carrying a library of unread masterpieces in his chest, silently grieving that the world only ever judged him by the dust on his cover

Tbh, Johnny's intentions were always a quiet, steady light that he held out to others, but because he never learned how to illuminate his own worth, he remained a silhouette against the brightness of everyone else’s expectations
