Pubs reopening June 29th

Work and school tomorrow a big factor

Massive factor for me too, but I always enjoy going out for a few afternoon pints on Paddy's Day.

But like the Gables didn't even bother opening this year, I think he's opening at 5 and by that stage everyone has gone home.

After years working in an Irish pub when Paddy's was a massive deal, I find this kind of sad. I'm going to head to the Hyde Out in a bit, surely there's a crowd over there.

One of my friends has a pub right by the parade route and he says it's quieter than a normal Tuesday. Usually it'd be absolutely rocking from the minute doors open on Paddy's Day.

Anyone know how other pubs are doing today?
Deanrock was fairly busy from about 3.30 on.

Fookin noise from abandoned kids was off the scale though..

And, let's not discuss the toilets.. Not a bad bar other than that.

That was without doubt the worst St. Patrick's Day in my lifetime.

I'm home already, the pubs died a death hours ago not that they ever got going in the first place. My local is closing at 10 because it's so quiet.

I know it was a Tuesday and people have work tomorrow, but it's been on a Tuesday before.

If ever there was a canary in the mine for how the Irish pub industry is going, St. Patrick's Day is that.

We'd no tourists this year from what I can gather, which our gouging hotels can take a lot of credit for.

I predict that in five years time, we'll be talking about when St. Patrick's Day used be a big thing.

Society has changed here, I was at the gym yesterday 5pm it was packed and it is a very big gym, a couple I know have a holiday home in Spain they prefer a weekend there every six weeks over going out here at weekends, lack of taxis are another factor here,
