I'd say the last time that I had a pint in FZs was around when Nirvana's "You Know You're Right" and Foo Fighters' "One By One" came out - so about 2002/2003-ish.
Christ.
Now I feel old.
It's mellowed out a lot, all the old heads are mostly gone bar the occasional appearance around a bank holiday. Very young crowd in there now.
I have nothing but good things to say about the place, it's just not my thing anymore. I like a pub where I can sit at a table in the corner on my own. 99% of the tables in Fredz are in the smoking room and I don't smoke.
I've an awful lot to be thankful to Fredz and Tom for and I hope it never goes away. They're pouring the new Original 7 Lyalls Stout now actually so I must call in for a pint.
Lyall's is named after former Fran Well brewer Peter Lyall who tragically passed away in a house fire last year. Lovely gesture to name a stout after him.
